Consultant

The Consultant’s primary responsibility is to assist senior leaders of Keane’s Unclaimed Property consulting group with field level client work.  This involves reviewing records, ledgers, and accounts, suggesting strategies to reduce liability, and preparing reports.  An ideal candidate will have proficient computer skills, and excellent communication skills.

Duties:  Include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Work with senior leaders and client to assist in managing state unclaimed property audits.
  • Review records requested by auditor and other necessary records in order to identify areas of potential noncompliance.
  • Work with client to develop strategy for mitigating the potential liability.
  • Review of General Ledger Chart of accounts and Trial Balances.
  • Assist with identifying categories of potential unclaimed property liability.
  • Quantification of potential liability by property type.
  • Suggest strategies to reduce potential liability.
  • Report preparation.
  • Assist with analysis of company’s existing unclaimed policies and procedures.
  • Conduct interviews of accounting personnel.
  • Provide additional support to project leaders as requested.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Accounting Major desired
  • Good organization and project management skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient technology skills (specifically MS Word and Excel)
  • Creativity/problem solving ability
  • Ability to read, interpret and gain a basic understanding of various state requirements
  • Team oriented, but can work independently if required
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively
